Background

Interaction pain points observed in user studies in three primary schools in Mumbai, were monotony in language discourses and the classroom blackboard being over used. If only we could bring the language concepts out into the hands of children to play with, what is possible then? Also we, human beings, are very tactile. Experiential learning is far more rewarding than textbook modes. So I proposed a handheld toy for each student that the teacher can control. This would be a bubble that holds a word. Using this a lot of activities can be designed for teaching sentence formations, tenses, synonyms, antonyms, etc.

Such an addition to classroom will give them opportunity to move around the class but also being in the zone of being instructed by a tutor. My exploration didn’t stop at English language. The above idea of bringing the topic out of the blackboard into an experiential dimension was attempted for math topics. Learning tools have been made dynamic, interactive and which give immediate response and feedback (need not be digital).
